Barr's Battery, and its companion units, is a non-profit Living History and Civil War Re-enactment Group with it's members in Southwest
Virginia and East Tennessee. The majority of our troops are members of Marshall's Rifles,Camp#2079,Sons of Confederate Veterans.
Our mission is to honor the Civil War soldier by portraying his life as accurately as
possible. We are a family oriented group and strive to uphold the values of our ancestors. We welcome new recruits, of all sexes
and ages.
In addition to Barr's Battery, we also portray a Confederate Infantry unit, Company C,63rd Virginia Infantry.
In tribute to our foes, we galvanize as the 5th Kentucky Battery, US Volunteers, 1st Maine Heavy Artillery, and Co.H,54th Kentucky Infantry, US Volunteers.
All these units are encompassed in The Grayson Blue/Gray Society. As a group we strive to better educate
the general public on the traditions and history of the region. We sincerely hope that others will follow the example we endeavor
to set.

If the very old will remember,
The very young will listen"

In an effort to better honor those who served during the trying times of the American
Civil War, Barr's Battery and the Grayson Blue/Gray Society will at times be called upon to portray a specific unit at a specific event. In order to do this the
battery will also reenact these other Confederate batteries in battles at which they were participants. We hope to do justice
to these groups as well as our parent unit and Society.
